NEW STEEL PIPE QUENCHING SYSTEM BUILT TO PROCESS PIPES UP TO 16mm THICK

A NEW STEEL PIPE QUENCHING SYSTEM HAS BEEN DESIGNED AND BUILT BY US, THAT IS TO PROCESS PIPES UP TO 16mm THICK AND WITH MAX. 139mm DIAMETER. ITS DESCRIPTION IS HEREBELOW.

The System has been built for:

    PIPE MAX. DIAMETER 139mm
    PIPE MIN. DIAMETER 48.3mm
    PIPE MAX. THICKNESS 16mm
    PIPE MIN. THICKNESS 3mm
    PIPE MAX. LENGTH 14m
    PIPE MIN. LENGTH 6m

    - REFERENCE PIPE SIZE FOR THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:
    DIAMETER 73mm
    THICKNESS 5.5mm
    LENGTH 12m
    PIPE ENTRY TEMPERATURE 840 °C-940 °C

    It consists of:

    DESCALER

Of allsteel construction, with supports for the descaling rings -- each support with linking flange to the water feeding line.

The rings need to be exchanged, depending from the pipe diameter ranges to process (below).

    WATER PRESSURE 200 bar

    DESCALING RINGS:

1 FOR PIPE DIAMETERS FROM 48.3mm TO 60.3mm
1 FOR PIPE DIAMETERS FROM 73mm TO 88.9mm
1 FOR PIPE DIAMETERS FROM 114.3mm TO 139mm

    - RING MAX CHANGEOVER TIME 15 mins.

    QUENCHING HEADS

Variable in number, in relation to the line speed and other factors.

Each Head sprays cooling water to the pipe, through nozzles (mounted on rings) inside the head frame.
The nozzles are automatically positioned, to tangentially hit the outer surface of pipe by water jets.

The modules are purposely designed to maximize the pipe surface that gets covered by jets^.

Each Head is mounted on a mobile frame, adjustable in height by means of motorized jack screws interlocked with encoder and inverter.
On the bottom-platform, fixed to foundations, the motorized jack screws are mounted as well as the pins for the sliding of mobile frame.

The "wet" parts are of stainless steel, the other metallic parts painted.

Water is fed to the two quenching modules by means of a shared manifold, rigidly flanged to the line from the hydraulic power unit.

The two modules can be used independently from each other.

The hydraulic system is equipped with pressure indicators and, all required devices for its control.
