NEW STEEL PIPE QUENCHING SYSTEM
for pipe wall thicknesses up to 30mm

NEW STEEL PIPE QUENCHING SYSTEM BUILT TO PROCESS PIPES UP TO 30mm THICK
A NEW STEEL PIPE QUENCHING SYSTEM HAS BEEN DESIGNED AND BUILT BY US, THAT IS TO PROCESS PIPES UP TO 30mm THICK AND WITH MAX. 271.3mm DIAMETER. ITS DESCRIPTION IS HEREBELOW.
The System, that can process up to 35 pipes/hour* has been built for:
PIPE MAX. DIAMETER 271.3mm
PIPE MIN. DIAMETER 114.3mm
PIPE MAX. THICKNESS 30mm
PIPE MIN. THICKNESS 12mm
PIPE MAX. LENGTH 14m
PIPE MIN. LENGTH 5.5m
PIPE MAX. WEIGHT 1.3 Tonne
Il allows getting 95% of Martensite in the pipes.
(* The entry & exit equipment to/from the tank, are custom designed at all times to allow maximum efficiency in also the parts-handling)
It consists of:
1) RESTS
to rotate pipe during dipping operation
With universal joints, operated by hydraulic motors and a chain transmission (those on opposite side to motors).
The shaft/rest assemblies rotate on self-lubricating bushes; are mounted on a steel frame, fixed to the dipping beam [> 2)].
Levers (each group of levers operated by hydraulic cylinder) handle pipes, to and from the tank --before and after the quenching process.
They are keyed to a shaft, supported by lubricated bushes; all shafts mutually inter-connected to other "spacer-shafts" by means of stiff joints.
2) DIPPING BEAM
to dip the rests^ with the pipe, into tank [>4)]
Of allsteel construction, epoxy-painted.
At the beam end, the nozzle [>3)] is mounted and supports with mutually-interconnected levers fix the beam to tank.
All lever-pins rotate on lubricated bushes.
Hydraulic cylinders move the beam to and from tank.
The cylinders, outer levers etc. all are mounted on tank side.
3) INSIDE COOLING NOZZLE
to assure water flow through pipe
Water comes to the nozzle though armored flexible pipes.
To allow processing different pipe diameters the nozzle can "manually" be adjusted in height, in respect to beam^; can also be tilted in respect to the horizontal axis.
(The movements are by screw / nut screw.)
4) TANK
Of allsteel construction, with epoxy-painted carbon steel panels inside.
The tank bottom is properly shaped to house a set of other nozzles, that convey the scale from workpiece surface to a waste pipe.
Two longitudinal manifolds with a set of further spraying nozzles generate a rotational-vortical motion of water, preventing calefaction layer forming.
A "manually" adjustable weir (with screw / nut screw) allows checking on the water level in the tank.
On tank's other side in resp. to inside cooling nozzle^ a support frame is mounted for maximum-length pipes to be conveyed to the hardening oven roller table and normalizing oven, "bypassing" the tank. Two levers are fixed to the frame, that remove pipes from tank placing them on a lateral plane: where a rotating arm will draw them. The are keyed to a shaft, supported by bushes; and operated by hydraulic cylinder.
